firedog advisor is a self-help tool that notifies you about problems in your computing environment and helps you fix them. It continuously scans your computer and its environment, notifies you about important issues, and, when possible, suggests an easy fix solution. In addition, firedog advisor provides you with a checkup function, which enables you to manually check your computing environment. This manual checkup displays additional, non-critical issues, such as suggestions and tips for improving the way you use your computer. firedog advisor helps you in a wide range of computing areas, such as security, performance, network, printing, and more.
Why would I want this on my computer?
firedog advisor notifies you of technical support issues and offers quick fixes before they turn into bigger problems for you and your computer. In addition, firedog advisor may offer you special promotional offers from firedog and/or Circuit City to help you with all of your technology needs.
Is there a fee to use the firedog advisor?
There is no fee to use or download firedog advisor. If there is ever a particular firedog service or product that is recommended, the firedog advisor would disclose the associated fee.
How do I uninstall / remove the tool?
firedog advisor is easy to uninstall/remove. Click on the START button, select Settings and then Control Panel (NOTE: you may be able to go right to Control Panel from START). Within Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs. Select firedog advisor and select Remove.

Right click on the System Tray icon (a green circle) and select Exit.
I didn't purchase my computer from Circuit City. Can I still download the firedog advisor from www.firedog.com/advisor?
Of course! The firedog advisor can be used with any PC. The firedog advisor is compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows Vista.
Does the firedog advisor put a cookie on my computer?
No, firedog advisor does not place a "cookie" or other unique text files on your computer. For more information on what firedog advisor is and how it works, see "What is firedog advisor" above.
Is there any Personally Identifiable Information being collected?
No, firedog advisor does not collect personally identifiable information. firedog advisor also does not collect your MAC address. firedog advisor does collect standard, non-confidential information about your PC, such as your operating system version, browser version, your regional and language settings, and your IP address. Other non-confidential information collected includes:
- Information about your antivirus vendor
- Information about your usage of firedog advisor, such as
- Items viewed
- Items clicked
- Whether or not a problem was fixed
If you do not wish firedog advisor to collect this information, you can disable this feature through the firedog advisor General settings. Go to "Options" on the top Menu. Select "Settings". Uncheck the box next to "Allow firedog advisor to collect quality of service data."
